Studying with extra provisions

Students may need provisions in order to study successfully due to a specific request for help or a disability. For example, extra examination time or screen reading software. The standard list of student-related provisions lists the provisions available at Radboud University and how they are named in OSIRIS.

Applying for provisions

If, due to personal circumstances, you need support in your studies, you can submit an application for student-related provisions for education and/or exams. Start your application on time. Preferably at the beginning of the academic year, well in advance of the start of an exam period.

How it works

  1. Start your application in OSIRIS Case
Complete the application form and, if needed, upload relevant documentation (for example, a diagnostic statement).
  2. Assessment of your application by the student counsellor
The student counsellor reviews your application. There are two possible next steps:

    1. In a limited number of situations, the application can be assessed without an appointment.
    2. In other situations, you will be asked to schedule an appointment.

In OSIRIS case, you can see which step applies to you.

  3. Advice from the student counsellor
The student counsellor prepares an advice on the provisions that are appropriate for your situation.

  4. Forwarding the advice to your study advisor
After receiving the advice, you indicate in OSIRIS case whether you want it to be forwarded to your study advisor. This does not happen automatically.

  5. Assessment and decision
The study advisor reviews the advice.
    1. If needed, the study advisor may invite you for an appointment.
    2. The examination committee decides on exam provisions.
    3. In some cases, the study advisor makes this decision on behalf of the examination committee.

  6. Decision
You will receive a notification in OSIRIS about the outcome of your application. If provisions are granted, they apply for the period agreed upon with your study advisor. This is also visible in OSIRIS.

Have you been granted a provision?

Your personal timetable will indicate the location where your examination will take place. If you have been assigned a facility 'INDIVIDUEEL', you will receive an email specifying the individual room in which you will take the examination.
