Intellectual biography Titus Brandsma

This intellectual biography of Titus Brandsma sheds surprising light on a broader current that defined the culture of those days: a fascination with mysticism and mysticism that also characterised artistic and political thought.

Our research focus

The Titus Brandsma Institute stands for the academic study of spirituality in the light of the Christian tradition in the past aswell as the present, at the service of church and society through publications, teaching and formation.

Religious landscape

Since the founding in 1968, the academic research at the Titus Brandsma Institute has always had a very unique color and profile. Since the start, the TBI has managed to acquire and maintain a name and fame in the religious, cultural and intellectual landscape both nationally and internationally. In terms of tradition and character, the Titus Brandsma Institute is inextricably linked to the university world, religious life and society.

KU Leuven

Inigo Bocken has been appointed professor of Mystical Theology at KU Leuven's Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies with effect from 1 February 2021. With this designation, the already existing cooperation between the Titus Brandsma Institute and KU Leuven will also receive an institutional embedding. The collaboration will also strengthen the international position of the Titus Brandsma Institute.
