Accommodation for students, well-equipped study facilities and lecture rooms, libraries, computer networks, a modern sports centre and on campus cafés and restaurants create a unique sense of community and belonging among our students. During the application process, students can request assistance in finding accommodation through the Radboud International Office.

In addition, you have the possibility to obtain a sports card for approximately 100 euros per year, which gives you access to more than 80 sports on offer and is voted best university sports centre according to the International Student Barometer.

Financial matters

The cost of living

Nijmegen is one of the most affordable student cities in the Netherlands. As a student, you can expect to spend a minimum of €800 per month on living expenses, including housing, food and personal care.

Tuition fees and study finance

Tuition fees are € 2,143 per year, which can also be paid in monthly installments. Concerning the Brexit, there will be no changes to tuition fees or student finance until the end of the transition period. This period will run until 31 December 2020, but could be extended. After the, tuition fees and student finance will depend on the outcome of the negotiations.

In addition, the Dutch government gives out loans to cover the tuition fees with low interest rates. Repayment of the loan only starts three years after graduation.

The city of Nijmegen

Nijmegen is the the oldest city in the Netherlands, dating back to Roman times. Today, it is a lively city with some 170,000 inhabitants (30,000 of whom are students) with an abundance of cafés and restaurants. The city offers many cultural activities from cinemas, museums and galleries to events, such as the International Four Days Marches, the Summer Festival and the Samba and Salsa Festival. It is a safe and friendly place to live and study. The cultural centre LUX – the largest art house cinema in the Netherlands – also offers theatre, music, debate, and multimedia.

There is an efficient public transport system and the city is well connected to other cities in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Weeze airport, approximately 45 minutes away, offers flights to multiple destinations. You can also make use of Eindhoven Airport and Schiphol/Amsterdam Airport, both at approximately 1.5 hours from Nijmegen by train.
