"I believe I have found in it my academic home"
Nationality: Finnish
Programme: Master's in Behavioural Sciences
Previous education: I have a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki. My major was in Social and Cultural Anthropology and my minors in International Relations and Social Psychology.
Why did I choose Radboud University: After my Bachelor's degree I was determined to start studying Social Psychology - a change of subjects that is rather difficult to make in Finland or Germany, my two native countries. I looked for programmes all over the world, but the Netherlands had always appealed to me due to high quality of education, an excellent general command of English and great people. Finally, Radboud University really stood out for me from the rest; with a perfect programme, great credentials and a multi-disciplinary outlook, I believe I have found in it my academic home.
What am I looking forward to the most regarding coming to Nijmegen: Most of all, I'm looking forward to settling down and getting serious again, after over 1,5 years of travelling and working around. I'm looking forward to living in a small town, to an international student atmosphere and to Dutch culture and markets.
A fun fact about myself: I have in the past years of my life really discovered the power of attitude, and strongly believe that, in most cases, our happiness is very much in our own hands, whatever the circumstances. To remind me of this, I have two tattoos on my feet, a smiley on my left foot and "a frowny" on my right. It's to signify that I can always choose my own luck and get up on the right foot. It's also funny, really ugly, and made at home by my brother 5 minutes before he drove me to the airport.
