"I always dreamt of studying abroad"

Nationality: Danish
Programme: Bachelor's in Psychology
Previous education:
High school
Sergeant - Danish Army Sergeant School.
Why did I choose Radboud University: I always dreamt of studying abroad. When deciding where to go, I was inspired by a friend who had studied in the Netherlands and who kept telling me how amazing it was. I gathered some information and discovered what a great educational system the Netherlands had, so I decided to go for it!
I looked into different universities and applied for two in the Netherlands. I got accepted to both, but Radboud University was my first choice, so I decided to go for it! Radboud appealed to me more on several aspects, so in the end it wasn’t a difficult choice.
What am I looking forward to the most regarding coming to Nijmegen: Starting a new chapter and adventure! I've never been in the Netherlands, so I'm really excited to go for something new and try out something completely different. I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of people from all over the world, make a lot of friends, and start my psychology studies! Besides I've heard a lot of amazing things about Nijmegen, so I'm looking forward to explore the city and the Dutch culture!
Fun facts about myself: I'm actually a Sergeant and I have worked for many years in the Danish military, where I have specialised in Military Intelligence and Psychological Operations. I have also volunteered abroad with a refugee organisation and lived in Greece for some time. I have lived on two different Greek islands, spent a large amount of time in Greece and I actually consider Greece my home.
I might be "Danish", but I actually never felt at home in Denmark. As a child I even preferred speaking English over Danish, and I had my first exchange student experience when I was 16 where I traveled alone. I guess I have always had a more international mindset, and I always pictured myself living abroad and travelling the world. I have also always had a big passion for languages and learning new ones. I speak quite a lot of languages and I hope to learn even more in the future!
One of my biggest passions in life is travelling and I travel as often as I can.
I'm a firm believer in just doing things, taking risks and just going for it! I believe that if you want something, you should just go for it, no matter what. You only live once and life is so short!
My favourite motto is: "Do it with meraki or don't do it all!" Meraki (Μεράκι) comes from Greek and it refers to do something with passion, love, creativity and soul. To put a little piece of yourself into everything you do.
