2022-2023 (Pre-)Master's English language requirements per programme

To meet the admission requirements for English-taught (Pre-)Master's programmes, a sufficient level of English proficiency is required. English proficiency can be proven through certain diplomas, or by successfully completing an English language test. Based on your previous education, the board of examiners for your programme decides whether or not you are required to take an English language test.

Find a list of the specific diplomas that are accepted as proof of English proficiency here.

Deadlines and instructions for online verification can be found at the bottom of this page.

English language tests

Radboud University accepts the IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBTC1 Advanced (formerly known as CAE) and C2 Proficiency (formerly known as CPE) tests. The table below shows the minimum required result for each of the accepted tests per programme.

Please note that IELTS and TOEFL results are valid for 2 years after the test date, and need to be valid on the date of enrolment. C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency results are valid for 5 years, except for study programmes at Nijmegen School of Management. For Nijmegen School of Management programmes, all test results are valid for 2 years.

Please note: Different specialisations belonging to one programme have the same English language requirements.

Online verification for English language tests

We can verify online results for IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge C1 Advanced & Cambridge C2 Proficiency exams when you send a scan of your official certificate to admissions@ru.nl. Please make sure that all information on the certificate is clearly legible.

Deadlines for online verification can be found below. Please note that if we are able to verify your scores online, you do not need to send us a certified copy of your English language certificate by post.

Deadlines

If a language certificate is required, the below deadlines apply for the verification of your results, either done online or by processing your certified copy sent by post.

Non-EU/EEA students:

  • 1 June, in order to start the visa procedure.

EU/EEA students:

  • 15 August, in order to activate and use your student account before the start of classes.

If you are not able to meet these deadlines, please contact Student Admissions at admissions@ru.nl.

Before sending us any documents, please read the explanation of what we mean by 'certified copy' on www.ru.nl/enrolment, to ensure that you send the correct documents for enrolment.
