A unique opportunity for Radboud University and Radboudumc employees, holding a PhD, with or without a research positionAre you a talented academic with leadership ambitions? Then you might want to consider Radboud Young Academy membership!We are looking for academics from the Radboud University or Radboudumc who:At 1 September 2024 have obtained a PhD between 2 and 10 years ago (extension possible in line with Extension regulations KNAW). A current research position is not needed. We encourage academics without a research position to apply.Would like to contribute to the initiatives of RYA and have ideas to stimulate interdisciplinarity and contribute to the academic culture.Have obtained successful academic results in science, education, management, impact and/or patient care and have academic leadership ambitions.You broaden both your academic view and network, due to intensive collaboration and social interaction with colleagues from various faculties and institutes, who are in similar phases of their career.Applying for Radboud Young Academy membership is possible at latest 30 April 2024. Radboud Young Academy and InScience are working together! During the film festival (12 – 17 March 2024) we organize two joint programs. On Wednesday 13 March (18:45 – 20:50, LUX) we will discuss the opportunities and challenges of internationalisation in the Dutch academy. We invited three international employees: Rayyan Toutounji, Sandy Barasa and Gaby Contreras. After the film Brief Tender Light, they will talk about the insights that they derived from this film. This discussion will be moderated by Maïté Tjon A Hie.On Thursday 14 March (19:00 – 20:15, LUX) we organize a special InScience Serendipity Session. Theme of this session is Darkness. Radboud Young Academy started Monday morning 30 October with a successful and inspiring Serendipity session about coffee. Liedeke Plate talked about the cultural heritage of coffee, Nils Kohn discussed a brain study about coffee tasting and Ilja Croijmans talked about coffee from a linguistic perspective. Afterwards participants could try some very well-tasting coffees at Blommers. We look back on a great start of our Serendipity Sessions and we hope to see you at our next session. On Monday 30 October Radboud Young Academy organises the first serendipity session. During this session the topic coffee will be explored from different scientific prospectives. Talks, coffee, cakes and buns are free; please register so that we have a full supply.

Together they seek interdisciplinary collaboration, provide (un)solicited advice and participate in the debate on education, science, social impact and science communication.

At Thursday 16th of May, Radboud Young Academy and Radboud Reflects organize Curiosity and Career: What Drives (Former) Academics? In the podcast series Out of the Box, created by the Radboud Young Academy and Radboud Reflects, four academics were interviewed about their careers. One returned to academia after a break, three others left academia indefinitely. Yet, none could stop doing research. Moreover, they found ways to pursue their academic interests beyond the walls of the university. This event closes the series and revolves around a central theme that emerged in all interviews: curiosity. Read more and register yourself soon.

Recognition & Rewards (R&R) is one of the most topical themes in Dutch academia and one driven largely by young scientific staff. It has therefore been a priority of the Radboud Young Academy (RYA), which played a major role in the creation of Radboud University's R&R vision document. RYA fully and enthusiastically endorses this vision document.From our mandate as an interfaculty think tank of young scientific staff and professionals that contributes to the academic culture of our university, we would like to highlight one point for each of the four R&R pillars that we believe deserve special attention.
