Relocation and refurbishing


As Radboud Excellence professors only stay in Nijmegen for a few months, they tend to keep their job and household in their home country. Therefore, the arrangement for relocation and refurbishment usually does not apply to them.


If you move to the Nijmegen area from a place at least 25 kilometers from the campus, and your new home is at least 60% closer to campus than your current residence, your moving expenses can be covered by the Radboud Excellence Initiative (after approval of our removal firm’s quote).

If you move a whole household of your own, you may also be entitled to reimbursement of other costs arising directly from the move (such as refurbishment costs) to a maximum of 12% of your annual gross salary for Radboud University or 10% for Radboudumc. At your request we can send you the document with the conditions worked out into detail, and you can check your personal situation with your HR officer.

Please note that this provision only applies to employees who stay with us for at least two years, so if your contract is terminated before that time through your own doing, you need to refund a proportional part of the amount you were awarded. This would mean, for example, that if you chose to leave 6 months before the end of your contract, you may have to pay back 6/24 part of the awarded amount.
