José Sanders appointed as new Dean of the Faculty of Arts
José Sanders (Hengelo (O), 1965) will be the new dean of the Faculty of Arts. From 1 February 2022, she will succeed Margot van Mulken, who will then return to fully dedicating herself to research and education.
José Sanders studied Dutch Language and Literature at Radboud University. She has been connected to the Faculty of Arts as an academic since 2009 – first as an associate professor, then as a professor with the teaching and research remit “Communicatie in Organisaties; Narratieve Communicatie” (communication in organisations; narrative communication).
José Sanders has been the chair of one of the three departments within the Faculty of Arts since 1 January 2018: the Language and Communication department. In this role, she has made an important contribution to the formation of the department structure that was introduced at the Faculty of Arts, also in 2018.
Rector Magnificus Han van Krieken: Professor Sanders has a clear vision for the development of the faculty in the sphere of influence within and outside the university and will guide the entire faculty with her infectious enthusiasm. She has a keen eye and passion for the various disciplines, staff members, and students of the faculty. She has also shown that she is highly ambitious and willing to take responsibility for further developing the Faculty of Arts in the interests of making it future-proof.”
José Sanders: “The Faculty of Arts at Radboud University is an academically rich faculty, with an enormous breadth and depth of education and research, something to be very proud of. We can certainly continue to communicate that. I am convinced that there are hardly any social issues for which arts-based insights are not essential: variation between languages and cultures; communication that is accessible to all; awareness of one's own history and that of others; the interaction between digital media, language, and communication! I am looking forward to further strengthening connections within the university and with our social partners. I am honoured to have been appointed to do this. I would also like to thank the amazing staff members, supervisors, and administrators in the faculty whom I have already had the pleasure of working with. Without them, none of this would be possible.”
