Procedure Flexible Transition Bachelor - (pre)Master

Due to the coronavirus crisis, you may not have fully completed your university Bachelor’s programme or pre-master before 1 September 2022 yet. In order to facilitate the transition from bachelor or pre-master to (pre-)master, the Faculty of Arts uses a so called ‘zachte knip’ in September 2022-2023. This means that you may start your (pre-)Master's programme at our Faculty, even if you have not completed your Bachelor's programme yet. More information about the exact rules can be found below.

You are currently enrolled in a university Bachelor's programme and want to start with the Master's programme Europese Studies: Nederland-Duitsland Studies in September 2022-2023

Please note: the Flexible Transition does not apply to the two-year Master’s programme Europese Studies: Nederland-Duitsland-Studies, due to the fact that this is a joint degree with a partner university.

You are currently enrolled in a university Bachelor's programme and want to start with one of the following Master's programmes in September 2022-2023

  • a one-year Master’s programme of the Faculty of Arts
  • a two-year Education Master’s (only offered in Dutch: Educatie in de Taal- en Cultuurwetenschappen & Educatie in de Mens- en Maatschappijwetenschappen)

You may start one of these Master’s programmes on 1 September 2022 if you have no more than 15 EC left to complete in your Bachelor’s programme, at that time.

If you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme at the Faculty of Arts at Radboud University, you must submit a correct study progress overview as proof. The Student Information Point Arts can help you sort out your SVO. Read more about the procedure here.

You must complete your Bachelor’s programme by 31 August 2023 at the latest. If this is not achieved, then you must first complete your Bachelor’s programme before you can continue your Master’s programme.

This regulation may not apply to non-EEA students, who need a visa and/or residence permit to study here. If you have any questions related to this, please send an email to visa@io.ru.nl.

Students who have completed all their courses and who have started their Bachelor’s thesis, but whose Bachelor’s thesis is worth more than 15 EC can contact the Faculty Admission Board.

Please note: Any additional criteria established by the Master’s programme will remain in force.

You are currently enrolled in a university Bachelor's programme and want to start with one of the following Research Master's programmes in September 2022-2023

  • Historical, Literary & Cultural Studies (HLCS)
  • Linguistics and Communication Sciences (LCS)

For the Research Master’s programmes, all requests will be assessed by the Faculty Admission Board,  taking any delay due to the coronavirus crisis into consideration.

You are currently enrolled in a pre-master and want to start with a Master's programme in September 2022-2023

You may start your Master’s programme on 1 September 2022 if you only need to complete the 10 EC for your Bachelor’s thesis, at that time. You must submit a correct study progress overview as proof. The Student Information Point Arts can help you sort out your SPO. Read more about the procedure here.

You must complete your Bachelor’s thesis, and with that your Pre-Master’s programme, by 1 February 2023 at the latest. If this is not achieved, then you must first complete your Pre-Master’s programme before you can continue your Master’s programme.

You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's programme and want to start with a Pre-Master's programme in September 2022-2023

You may start this Pre-Master’s programme on 1 September 2022 if you have no more than 15 EC left to complete in your Bachelor’s programme, at that time. You must submit a statement from the examination board of the institution where you participate in the Bachelor’s programme as proof. Read more about the procedure here.

You must complete your Bachelor’s programme by 31 August 2023 at the latest. If this is not achieved, then you must first complete your Bachelor’s programme before you can continue your Pre-Master’s programme.

Procedure

Students enrolled in a Bachelor’s or pre-master of the Faculty of Arts

  1. Check before 15 June if your study progress overview is in order: are all courses in the right place (e.g. all minor courses mentioned under “minor”)? The fact that not all courses have been completed yet does not make a difference in order to get your SVO in order. If courses need to be moved (from "other credits achieved" to ...), please contact the Student Information Point Arts.
  2. Send your request for admission to the Faculty Admission Board (toelatingscommissie@let.ru.nl) by 1 August 2022 at the latest. Your email should contain the following information:
    1. Your name and student number
    2. The name of the Bachelor's or Pre-Master’s programme you are currently enrolled in at the Faculty of Arts
    3. The name of the Master's programme of the Faculty of Arts you want to start with on 1 September 2022
    4. An attachment with your correct study progress overview.

Students from other faculties and/or universities

  1. Have the examination board of the institution where you participate in the Bachelor’s programme fill in the following statement:

  2. Send your request for admission to the Faculty Admission Board (toelatingscommissie@let.ru.nl) by 1 August 2022 at the latest. Your email should contain the following information:
    1. Your name and student number
    2. The name of the Bachelor's programme you are currently enrolled in
    3. The name of the institution (university or university of applied sciences) where you participate in the Bachelor’s programme
    4. The name of the Master's programme of the Faculty of Arts you want to start with on 1 September 2022
    5. An attachment with the statement “Statement for the purpose of 'Zachte knip'”, signed by the examination board of the institution where you are following your Bachelor’s programme.
