€ 3.7 M EU grant for European Training Network on catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation
FELIX Laboratory is participating in the CATCHY European Training Network on the design, implementation and production upscaling of novel, high-performance, cluster-based catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation. The network has received a € 3.7M grant from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (EU).
The project aims to create new, high-performance cluster-based catalysts for the conversion of atmospheric CO2 into added-value synthetic materials with a catalysis-by-design approach, while delivering a training programme that will give 14 early-stage researchers the expertise and skills required by employers in the European nanotechnology sector. The international project is led by KU Leuven.
Schematic idea of the scientific aim: to understand and optimize the catalytic activity of tailor-made bimetallic clusters with full control over size, composition, and cluster-support interaction for a fully integrated catalysis-bydesign approach to efficient and selective hydrogenation CO2 catalyst development.
Contribution FELIX
The unique brilliance properties that can be generated at FELIX Laboratory are bound to enhance the understanding of catalytic processes at the molecular level, an important asset. Researchers will also train PhD students and doctoral schools.

With a total budget of €530 million, the European Commission supports 147 project that offer extraordinary, global research and training opportunities to 2.000 PhD candidates.
