Internal PhD candidates
Internal PhD candidates are those who have applied for a funded PhD project. Vacancies for such projects are placed on the university website as well as on the Dutch portal for academic vacancies. The recruitment and selection process as well as any specific admission requirements for these positions are described in the relevant vacancy texts.
External PhD candidates
In order to be admitted as an external PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts of the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology & Religious Studies, potential candidates must have an affinity with one or more CLS, RICH or PTR research topics. They must also display academic research skills that are sufficient to start their PhD trajectory. The requirements for external PhD candidates therefore include:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field obtained at a Dutch university or at an institute recognized as the equivalent of a Dutch university;
- Proof of language proficiency (C1 level/IELTS 7.0-8.0) if the intended language for your dissertation is not your native tongue;
- The support of potential supervisors from the CLS, RICH or PTR research institutes (minimum of two, maximum of four);
