Introduction

Mission

The Halkes Women+ Faculty Network strives to make Radboud University a more diverse, inclusive, and fair place. Although we have a focus on gender equality and inclusion, we strive to think and work intersectionally, incorporating other facets of identity.

One of our aims is to contribute to the advancement of women and gender minority faculty at the higher ranks of the university.

Our work focuses on four things:

  1. Facilitating contact between people, from PhD candidate to professor, at different faculties and from different disciplines, to help build professional networks, share experiences, and learn from each other.
  2. Empowering people by increasing their visibility and supporting their professional and personal development.
  3. Supporting people’s professional and personal development by providing them with information, connecting them to resources, and helping them develop their network.
  4. Building an inclusive and fair work environment at Radboud University by advocating for and promoting fair policies, supportive facilities, and education and trainings on topics such as diversity and harassment.

For our events we aim to provide a safe and respectful environment for everyone regardless of age, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs, (dis)ability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality, marital status, childbirth- and pregnancy-related medical conditions, or childcare requirements.

If you require an accessibility-related measure (for instance, sign language interpretation, captioning, accessible parking, specific dietary requirements, or any other accessibility-related measure) for one of our events then please feel free to always contact us!

Target group

Our target group are people in scientific/academic positions at Radboud University who are (historically, structurally, societally) at a disadvantage and face specific challenges because of their gender identity. This includes cis and trans women and femmes as well as non-binary people.

However, equality and equity are a matter of all employees independent of gender and rank. That is why all researchers including men, but also students, (support) staff, and other interested parties are welcome to join the network events.

Our board

The Halkes Women+ Faculty Network is led by a board of volunteers who are in different scientific/academic positions at different faculties of Radboud University. To learn who our current board members are, click here.
