Vishal Bechai, PhD student

After Vishal finished his Master in Physics of Molecules and Materials, he started right away as a PhD in the group of Peter Christianen. He is working on the combination of FELIX intense laser light and the high fields of HFML. At the moment there is one magnet connected to a beamline, hopefully in the near future more magnets follow. "I chose this research area because I like to work on new things and discover new physics. Also the technical aspect is certainly interesting. What we do here has never been done before. It is a lot of testing, thinking things over, discussing with the technicians about what is possible. And at the end of the day you see concrete results: either it works, or it doesn’t."
