Rubicon grant for Maarten van Delft

Physicist Maarten van Delft, who just finished his PhD research at the HFML, is awarded a Rubicon grant of NWO. The Rubicon programme is intended to give young, highly promising researchers the opportunity to gain international research experience.

Superconducting junctions without interfaces

An important component of superconducting electronics is the Josephson junction, which is currently produced using different materials. As the interfaces between these materials limit the quality of the junction, Maarten van Delft will develop a new way of producing junctions within a single material at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Rubicon Grants

For many researchers, experience abroad is an important step in their career. With a Rubicon grant researchers can spend up to 24 months doing research at a foreign institution. The size of the grant is dependent on the destination chosen and the duration of the stay. Each year, NWO can fund about 60 young researchers within Rubicon. 61 researchers submitted a proposal for Rubicon, 16 of them are awarded.
