First data at 37.5 tesla
HFML has produced the first experimental data in its new 37.5-T magnet. We have measured the fractional quantum Hall effect in the high-mobility two-dimensional electron system of a GaAs/GaAlAs heterostructure (ETH Zürich). We used a home-built 3He system with an in-situ rotation mechanism. Everything has functioned excellently and the system is now ready to be used for further experiments.
