Memory Training and Smart Learning
Most students have never learned how to learn. While everyone has their own way of learning, not everyone does it best. Memory techniques and mnemonics are little used and yet enable feats of memory champions, which seem unbelievable to most students, such as memorizing the sequence of 80 random digits in under 20 seconds. Combined with learning principles, these techniques are not tricks, but form a real memory skill that you can apply to your studies.
In this skill module, you will learn to memorize information several times faster and keep it in your head for as long as you like. You will also learn to look at promises of brain training with a critical eye and find your own way of learning best. In four meetings you will look at different memory techniques, learn to apply and analyze them, and evaluate the usefulness of memory techniques.
Instructor
The instructor for this module is Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad, CSP. Since 2014 he has been working in Nijmegen as a memory researcher and lecturer at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. Previously, he had studied physics and computer science in Dortmund and Reading, and had obtained a PhD in Munich on neuronal principles of a super memory. Publicly, he is known as a memory champion. Eight-time Team World Champion (most recently in 2018), four Guinness World Records and being on several TV programs such as "The Brain" (China) and "Wetten Dass" (Germany) are just some of his successes. His latest book on memory was a national Dutch bestseller and has been translated into six languages. His lectures and trainings on memory techniques are in worldwide demand at universities, companies and associations alike.
