Description

How can process industry effectively optimise product quality and production costs, and at the same time minimise the environmental footprint? Radboud University presents an evidence-based GreenPAT methodology for online process management decisions. GreenPAT is a unique combination of Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) guaranteeing end-product quality in real time, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which quantifies the environmental influence of processes over their full life cycle.

We can already show from several case studies with large producers that GreenPAT provides a unique evidence-based value proposition for process management. Decisions about raw material mixing, maintenance planning and energy consumption can now be supported in real time by information about the environmental effects of each choice. In this way, GreenPAT shows how sustainability can be integrated into process management, which may go hand-in-hand with considerable cost reductions.

Currently we are building several demonstrative GreenPAT use cases with several process-industrial partners. In these cases, we try to predict and quantify the sustainability in the continuous improvement of economic and qualitative process performance. The development of our PAT-LCA interface will give companies the means to steer processes for considerable improvements in process economics and sustainability.

  • Are you interested in how sustainable evidence-based thinking can contribute to continuous improvement of your process performance?
  • Do you see opportunities for predicting how and when process management operations may contribute to our planet?
  • Would you like to discover how everyone from the work floor to the board room may embrace the GreenPAT way of thinking?
