Dr. Georgy Astakhov (Institute of Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden - Rossendorf (HZDR), Germany)
I discuss different types of spectroscopy to study quantum phenomena in the solid state. First, I present the observation of the universal magnetoelectric effect in a 3D topological insulator using monochromatic THz spectroscopy. I will then discuss the advantages of intense THz radiation provided by FELIX to study Dirac materials and application of nonlinear phenomena for the next generation of communication technologies. Finally, I give an example of scanning quantum magnetometry and a vision how EPR/ODMR spectroscopy with ultrahigh sensitivity and small detection volume can be implemented using the unique combination of HFML and FELIX facilities.
