Recent vision papers (Science Education for Responsible Citizenship, Education for sustainable development, 21st century skills, Onderwijs 2032) on preparing students for the future society emphasize the importance of students learning to judge in society-relevant issues. Despite its widely recognized relevance not many teachers have experience in supporting students in their development of moral reasoning. This research project will contribute to insights into the teaching of moral reasoning in socio-scientific issues in upper secondary science classes.
