Welcome associate researcher Dr. Alexei Bodrov

From 1 January 2023, Dr. Alexei Bodrov will be an Associate Researcher of the Institute of Eastern Christian Studies. Dr. Bodrov was a researcher at the VU University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands from 2013 to 2022. His is also the founder of the St. Andrew’s Biblical Theological Institute, Moscow. He has a PhD in Physics, a degree in Theology from the Russian Open University, and has also studied at the Oxford Theological Exchange Programme (Balliol College).

Dr. Bodrov was a member of several advisory boards, organisations and project groups throughout Europe. Currently he is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, Edinburgh Companions to Global Christianity (Christianity in Eastern and Southern Europe). An accomplished author, he has written several books and papers on the topics of Orthodox Christianity, religious education, interreligious dialogue, as well as the relationship between religion and politics in post-communist Russia.

Bodrov’s affiliation with IvOC is on a personal basis as an independent associate researcher. Our institute is not officially affiliated with the St. Andrew’s Biblical Theological Institute. Dr. Bodrov is also member of the curatorium (advisory board) of the endowed chair “Orthodoxy, Human Rights, Peace Studies” maintained by IvOC in cooperation with PThU Amsterdam. During his year as a researcher with IvOC, he will carry out his publication projects and serve as a regular consultant on matters of Christianity in the post-soviet sphere.
