New Intern: Ayla Kivits

Ayla Kivits

Ayla Kivits has recently started working at the Institute of Eastern Christian Studies as an intern. She is doing the Research Master in Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies, specializing in Art and Visual Culture at the Radboud University. She is interested in religious and allegorical art.

During her internship, Ayla's task is to conduct research on the collection of Ethiopian icons and images that were donated to the institute by the Nijmegen Volkenkundig Museum in the past. She is currently in the process of determining the origin of these images and the iconography of the performances is on offer.

During this research, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Heleen Murre-van den Berg, Ayla works on a form of public accessibility for these objects. Ideally in the form of a museum exhibition.
