New intern: Heleen de Graaf

Heleen de Graaf started her research internship at the Institute of Eastern Christian Studies on 11 February, in the context of her Masters in Religion and Society at Utrecht University. She is interested in modern Christianity in a changing Europe, lived religion and (religious / cultural) narratives. Another major interest is Syrian Christianity.

At the Institute, Heleen will write a report on the status quo of Christian Syrian refugees in the Netherlands, who have fled to Europe since 2011, due to the ongoing civil war in Syria. In addition, she will contribute to the preparations for the conference on Global Orthodoxy that will be held next fall.
