Petre Maican received his PhD in Systematic Theology from the University of Aberdeen (UK) and he has a Master's and a Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Bucharest. To date, he has held the position of Teaching Fellow at the University of Aberdeen and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCLouvain (Belgium). He has participated in numerous international conferences and has published extensively in the fields of ecumenism, ecclesiology and disability theology. His current research project is on the intersection of theological anthropology, intellectual disability and Orthodox spirituality.
