CMR lecture of November 2005 (Lecture)

The focus of this project is on the inter-relationship of labour law with contemporary labour migration in leading industrialised countries. In general terms, the question to be addressed is whether policy on the admission and treatment of labour migrants is consistent with the classic objectives of labour law. The project will examine labour migration and labour law in the light of each other. On the one hand, this means reviewing the implications of respect for labour rights for current immigration arrangements. On the other, it means considering the implications of contemporary labour migration phenomena for our understanding of labour law. In either case, the ultimate objective is a commentary on British policy and practice
