On Thursday 29 November 2007 Sandra Mantu was awarded the Hanneke Steenbergen scriptieprijs. This prize is awarded each year for the best thesis on migration law. The Foundation and the Prize bear the name of Hanneke Steenbergen. During her life she taught migration law at the University of Leiden and was highly dedicated to the promotion of education on migration law. The thesis sketches the legal framework within which the debate regarding access to social benefits for economically inactive migrant EU citizens takes place, dealing in detail with the social entitlements of three specific categories: students, retired citizens and unemployed/job seekers. |
