Assistant professor of Criminal Law Anna Pivaty together with Ed Johnston (Northampton University, UK) co-edited the volume ‘Efficiency and Bureaucratisation of Criminal Justice: Global Trends. It was produced under the auspices of the Institutions for Conflict Resolution – Nijmegen research group. Alongside Anna Pivaty, SteR-researcher Marieke Dubelaar contributed to this volume.

The HorizonEurope project DignityFIRM kicks-off on 1 April 2023. Professor of European Migration Law Tesseltje de Lange is the principal investigator of this project, cooperating with professor of Criminology Masja van Meeteren, assistant professor of Planning Pascal Beckers and assistant professor of Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies Els Rommes.

As of 1 September 2022, Petra Bárd has been appointed as Professor of Sustainable Rule of Law at the Research Centre for State and Law (SteR). Bárd is the first SteR rotating chair holder. On Thursday 24 November the research programme ‘Founding principles & fundamental rights’ and SteR organised a seminar to introduce Petra Bárd to the research centre.

To give students the opportunity to prepare well for their exams the Law Library will extend the opening hours in December and January. All Fridays in the exam period the library will be open until 22.00h. And all Saturdays and Sundays during this period we are open from 10.00h until 18.00h.

Based on Elsevier's "Best Studies 2022," six Nijmegen Law study programmes come out on top in terms of student satisfaction. In addition, the bachelor's programs European Law School, Law and the master's program International and European Law received a medal because they "excel in several aspects compared to study programmes in the same field."

The Centre for Migration Law, as a member of the Odysseus Network, has been awarded a contract by the European Parliament LIBE committee for a study on the European Commission's proposals as brought forward in the Legal migration package - Attracting skills and talent to the EU.
