André Janssen awarded Franqui Chair 2022

1576692Professor of European Private Law André Janssen has been awarded an academic chair by The Francqui Foundation at KU Leuven. The annual chair was awarded to Janssen on proposal of the Faculty of Law and Criminology at Kulak Campus (a branch of the KU Leuven) for his international leading expertise on private law.

The Francqui Foundation encourages the development of higher education by awarding an annual academic chair on proposal of a Belgian university. The Francqui chair offers the possibility to invite a renowned professor from another institution to lecture a series of courses in his or her research area. Prof. Janssen will be teaching a number of courses and lectures, including his inaugural lecture ‘Performance by Artifical Intelligence: The End of Contract Law As We Know It?’

Prof. André Janssen is Professor of Private Law and European Private Law at the Radboud University of Nijmegen/Netherlands. He is an internationally renowned expert on private law, especially where contract and tort law, European private law and international sales law, and artificial intelligence and law are concerned. He taught and presented at more than 100 international conferences, is a member of several international research networks and published more than 150 books and articles.
