Date of news: 21 October 2019

On Friday 18 October 2019 professor of Financial Law Danny Busch presented on Systemic Risk at the International Monetary Fund and the George Washington University Law School.

In late 2008, the world's financial system was teetering on the brink of systemic collapse. While the impacts of the global financial crisis would be felt immediately, at every level of the economy, it would also send years-long aftershocks through investment, banking and regulatory circles worldwide.

Against this backdrop, on Friday 18 October 2019, the Canadian Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) organized a roundtable session at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC on 'Remedial measures to address systemic risk in the financial sector'. Danny Busch gave a video presentation on 'Systemic Risk, CCP's & Brexit'.

On the same day, CIGI organized a conference hosted by the George Washington University Law School on 'Lessons learned and lessons missed' as we reflect 10 years after the global financial crisis. Danny Busch gave a video presentation on 'Regulating Systemic Risk in the European Financial Sector – Overview, Assessment & Future Challenges'.
