Lecture Judge Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque: Brexit and Human Rights - what does the future hold for the UK and Europe?
On Thursday 20 December the Faculty of Law welcomes a special guest: Paolo Pinto de Albuquerque, judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ERHM). From 12.30PM till 2PM Pinto de Albuquerque will give a lecture in the CPO room of the Grotius building: "Brexit and Human Rights - what does the future hold for the UK and Europe?", followed by a discussion.
After his studies, Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque worked as a judge in various courts in Lisbon. Since 2011 he represents Portugal as judge at the ERHM and as of 2015 he has also been working as Professor Catedrático at the law faculty of the Catholic University of Lisbon. Pinto de Albuquerque gave guest lectures in the US and China, among others, and was asked as an expert for the Council of Europe's Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) and the European Commission, and as an advisor to the Portuguese Ministry of Home Affairs.
