Ben Schuijling appointed as UNIDROIT Correspondent
The Governing Council of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) has appointed Ben Schuijling, professor of Private Law and director of the Radboud Business Law Institute, as its correspondent for the Netherlands.
UNIDROIT is an independent intergovernmental organisation with its seat in Rome, Italy. Its purpose is to study needs and methods for modernising, harmonising and co-ordinating private and in particular commercial law as between States and groups of States. UNIDROIT formulates uniform law instruments, such as principles and rules to achieve those objectives. Correspondents act as a source of information on national law for the Secretariat, as an expert counsel on matters of transnational law and as an informal ambassador of UNIDROIT. Schuijling was previously associated with UNIDROIT as a guest researcher in 2018.
