10 tips for new Law Library students

Date of news: 18 September 2023

Law Library team welcomes new Law students! We have 10 tips to get a flying start.

Tip 1 Study environment

In the Law Library you can find group- and individual workplaces. Group workplaces can be reserved for Law students after showing proof of Law enrolment in Osiris.

Tip 2 PCs & laptops

You can use the computer workstations in the Law Library. With your own laptop or smartphone you can use Wifi via Eduroam.
The availability of available PCs can be seen on the screen opposite the service desk.

Tip 3 Opening hours

The openings hours of the library are:
Monday up to Thursday: 8.30 - 22.00h
Friday: 8.30 - 18.00h
During exam periods, there are modified opening hours. Keep an eye on the screens in the library.

Tip 4 Finding literature

Start your search for academic literature in the Library guide Law. You can also log in to the search systems from home using your RU-account.
Under the heading Quick links you will find the most frequently used legal databases.
RUQuest is a handy search engine that allows you to search both digital and printed books and journals of Radboud University.
Tip: we have a lot of study literature as e-books! Check Mandatory Study Literature E-books.

Tip 5 Borrowing

With your student card you can borrow books for free at the Law Library and other library locations on campus. Activate here your card in RUQuest.
In RUQuest you will find the local holdings under 'call numbers'. You can borrow a book via the borrowing machine near the service desk.
You can not borrow journals; these are only for consultation in the library.

Diagonally opposite the service desk you will find a selection of our latest acquisitions. You can borrow these right away.

Tip 6 Printing, copying and scanning

Printing, copying and scanning can be done via Kuario. We recommend activating your account as soon as possible.

Tip 7 Service desk

At the service desk you can ask all your questions about the library's facilities. You can also book group workplaces here.

Tip 8 Need help?

The Law Library's information desk is open every Monday to Thursday from 12:30 to 14:30h. Here you can ask all your questions about searching, finding and using resources.
Outside the information desk's opening hours, you can email inforecht@ubn.ru.nl with your question.

Tip 9 (Social) media

Keep an eye on the screens in the faculty and certainly the screen in the library opposite the service desk.
In addition, there are regular announcements on our UB Guide to Law. You will also find them in the faculty newsletter you receive in our Library guide Law.
