Sebastiaan Roes appointed Professor of Ethics, Foundations and History of the notarial profession
With effect from 1 September 2018 Prof. J.S.L.A.W.B. (Sebastiaan) Roes has been appointed Professor of Ethics, Foundations and History of the notarial profession at the Faculty of Law of Radboud University. Since 1 September 2008 he has been Professor by special appointment on behalf of the Stichting tot Bevordering der Notariële Wetenschap in Amsterdam.
Sebastiaan Roes is expert in the field of professional ethics of the notary office, including notarial disciplinary law. He conducts (archive) research into the history of the Dutch notarial profession and related subjects, such as the old-Dutch matrimonial property, donation and inheritance law.
Roes studied Medieval History (Master's degree 1989) and Notarial Law (Master's degree 1995) at Radboud University. In 2006 he obtained his PhD (with honours) on research into the history of Dutch law on succession.
