Library of Science workshops and instructions
Current workshops on offer (for everybody!)
Group instructions for your students
The university library is the right partner for improving your students’ search and referencing skills.
We offer tailor made training and workshops at any desired level (bachelor, premaster, master, PhD students). Teachers can also come up with their own suggestions to develop a course. Instructions and workshops are often embedded in curricula. Sometimes a case or assignment, provided by the teacher, is used in our training, so students can directly use their newly acquired knowledge. The instructions are given by our own library information specialists.
A few of the possibilities:
- A tour through the library, including the library classification system, how to borrow, print and scan.
- Introduction in general library databases like RUQuest, Google Scholar, subject specific databases like Web of Science, Reaxys and MathSciNet, the difference between scientific and non-scientific literature and plagiarism.
- Creating a correct bibliography, with information about reference styles (APA, ACS, Nature, etc), and reference managers (EndNote, Mendeley, etc).
- Creating a research management plan (for theses, especially dissertations).

Individual instructions (for everyone!)
In addition to group instructions, we also offer individual instructions for everyone; students, teachers and researchers. A basic instruction in the use of the various library databases, or help with a specific literature search? The individual instructions are tailor made.
You are welcome for an individual instruction.
