Plan S Rights Retention Strategy (RRS)

Plan S signatories support scientists in maintaining their right to publish the full text of their publications in their institution's repository.

Research funders, such as NWO and ERC, oblige scientists to immediately make scientific publications open access based on their funding, and help create the opportunities to comply with this.

If you follow the RRS strategy, you can continue to publish in scientific journals with a high impact factor. The advice is to inform the publisher from the first contact about the obligation of your financier to publish in open access immediately. You attach a CC-BY license to all versions of your publication that you submit; to all Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs) as well as to the Versions of Record (VOR).
