Microbiology post doc positions  at Radboud University www.ru.nl/microbiology

Microbiology is one of the research priority areas of the Radboud University bestowed with many prestigious awards including two ERC Advanced Grants, a Spinoza price and two Gravitation Grants (www.ru.nl/microbiology). The Gravitation Grant “Microbes for health and environment” has made possible the establishment of the Soehngen Institute of Anaerobic Microbiology where 5 excellent Dutch Microbiology research groups collaborate for the next 10 years.

At Radboud University the microbiology research has focused on the discovery of new anaerobic ammonium and methane-oxidizing micro-organisms and the elucidation of their genome and metabolism. The microbiology priority area in conjunction with the Soehngen Institute has the opportunity to hire talented (female) microbiologists for several post doc positions in a complementary field of (anaerobic) microbiology including but not restricted to molecular microbiology, microbial genetics or microbial biochemistry.  Part time working times and teaching options can be discussed. Microbiology at Radboud University provides ample opportunity for scientific cooperation, in particular in the areas of Microbial Cell Biology with advanced electron microscopic facilities, Microbial(meta)genomics using high trough put sequencing and bioinformatics, Microbe-Host interactions and Microbial (Eco)Physiology equipped with 32 state-of-the-art bioreactor facilities and analytical (GC, GC-MS, HPLC) equipment.

Expected qualifications of the post doc positions

  • Phd thesis in relevant microbial topic;
  • Experience with up to date and state of the art microbiology ( and metagenomics) methods in a relevant field;
  • Scientific excellence, creativity and productivity exemplified by an excellent publication record;
  • Preferably international research Experience;
  • Teaching and funding experience is a pre
  • Enthusiasm, perseverance, ingenuity, patience and entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Excellent communication skills, team spirit;
  • Excellent computer and software skills;
  • Fluency in English (preferably at CPE level).

The post doc  positions will entail a salary according to Netherlands University conditions including an attractive secondary benefits package, and child care.
