Annual Political Science Workshops of the Low Countries

Date of news: 1 June 2022

The Department is proud to host the 2022 Politicologenetmaal (Annual Political Science Workshops of the Low Countries). The organizing team at the department is headed by Dr Andrej Zaslove and Dr Maurits Meijers.

The Etmaal will bring political scientists from Dutch and Belgian universities (as well as further afield) together for a series of inspiring workshops spanning the whole field of political science. In 2022, featured topics include polarization, fragmentation, the role of ethnic minorities in politics, the politics of insecurity and grief, or the international political economy of the Low Countries. Former participants describe the experience thusly: “The Annual Political Science Workshops of the Low Countries is a 24 hour pressure cooker where up-and-coming early career scholars and established scholars discuss old and new questions in the discipline. Within this typically ‘cozy’, yet critical and constructive setting, contemporary political science grows and transforms in all its diversity”.
