Jan-Kees Helderman is Professor of Public Administration and vice dean of research of the Nijmegen School of Management (Helderman's website). He holds a PhD from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management). His PhD thesis ‘Bringing the Market Back In? Institutional Complementarity and Hierarchy in Dutch Housing and Health Care.’ was awarded with the G.A. van Poelje award for the best PhD thesis in Dutch and Flemish Public Administration research in 2007. Helderman is Associate Editor of Health Economics Policy and Law (Cambridge University Press) and Chief editor of Bestuurskunde. He was the founder and chair of the IMR research group Governance and Innovations in Social Services (GAINS), an interdisciplinary research group focused on transformative governance of social services. Helderman is member of a number of influential advisory committees and commissions on social care and youth care policies in the Netherlands.
