Tom Elfring obtained his PhD in Economics in Groningen (1988). He was professor and head of the Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship department at the University of Liverpool Management School. He has extensive management experience at Dutch universities, and was visiting professor at universities in Italy (Bologna University), Denmark (Copenhagen Business School), and the United States (Texas A&M and University of Alabama). Elfring’s research focuses on strategic entrepreneurship and networking and innovation in services. His research is multidisciplinary in nature, and combines elements from economics, business administration, sociology, psychology, and geography. His research is partly funded by organisations such as the NWO, KNAW, WRR, the European Science Foundation, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
