Two Awards for a Publication on the Development of a Circular Economy
Business Administration Assistant Professor Sjors Witjes has received two awards as co-author of the article “The circular economy: New or Refurbished as CE 3.0? — Exploring Controversies in the Conceptualization of the Circular Economy through a Focus on History and Resource Value Retention Options”: a “Most Cited Paper Award 2020” and a “Most Downloaded Paper Award 2020”. He wrote the article about the development of the circular economy concept with two researchers from Utrecht University.
The awards are issued by the Resources, Environment and Sustainability journal in recognition of the fact that the article has been downloaded often and that the study is referenced regularly. It shows the impact of the research.
The Next Step
Witjes says that the publication has already had an impact on policy-making in The Hague and Brussels. Business Administration has also approached Geography, Planning and Environment for a collaboration to further this research.
