Radboud University and the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia are going to intensify their cooperation

Date of news: 11 May 2023

Radboud University and the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia are going to intensify their cooperation. University associate professor Sjors Witjes and professor Hans van Kranenburg formalised this in a cooperation agreement during a visit to the city of Bogotá.

The universities want to exchange more knowledge and experience in the field of circular economy and sustainable entrepreneurship. The educational institutions also want to make it easier for Bachelor’s and Master’s students to spend part of their study time abroad.

Witjes: "In times of crisis and unrest, the Latin American perspective on organising and doing business is a very interesting addition to ours. A friend of mine in Colombia sometimes says: ‘In Europe you set up a company for the euros, here in Colombia we set up a company for the employees'. The focus is therefore primarily on the people themselves. We in the West can learn something from that.”

The Universidad de Los Andes is currently considered the best business school in Latin America. Besides the university in Bogotá, Radboud University has a collaboration with the Colombian university in Medellín. In addition to Sjors Witjes and Hans van Kranenburg, Andre van Hoorn and Paul Ligthart from Nijmegen School of Management are also involved in the collaboration.
