Climate Reporting as Instrument for CO2 Reduction (CRed)
The project will analyse the contribution and respective mechanisms of climate change reporting in reducing CO2 emissions through a mixed-methods approach. Working package 1 (WP1) “Status quo of climate change reporting” analyses whether and how mandatory and voluntary climate change reporting is associated with changes in corporate CO2 emissions and with changes in investor reactions to disclosed climate data. WP2 “Corporate climate data in the investment process” takes the investor’s view on climate change reporting, aiming to better understand the importance of climate change data in the decision making process of professional investors with the goal to present recommendations on how to improve the use of this data. WP3 “Climate change reporting and management decision making” takes the corporate view on climate change reporting and analyses the influence of different designs of climate change reporting on managerial decision-making. The results will allow recommendations on which design(s) of climate change reporting are best suited to encourage managers to make emission-reducing investments.
