On the Consequences of Mainstreaming Fair Trade

Fair trade products are becoming more mainstream. This project studies the consequences of fair trade mainstreaming on wealth transfers to smallholders by combining economic and consumer behaviour theories. At the supply side, we investigate how wealth transfers are affected by increased competition on fairness. At the demand side, we investigate changes in consumer response to information about fair trade products.
