IDlab
Hotspot Integrated Decision Making launched “Experimental IDlab”.
Sascha Füllbrunn (Department of Economics and Business Economics), Vincent Marchau, and Etiënne Rouwette (both Department of Business Administration) took more responsibility for the IMR Decision labs consisting of the Individual Decision Lab (-1.545) and the Group Decision Lab (-1.510). To keep and improve the quality of data generation processes using the experimental methodology, the hotspot Integrated Decision Making launched the Experimental IDlab.
The Experimental IDlab offers weekly slots to 1) organise the experimental laboratory by taking the opinions and ideas of the users into account and 2) discuss experimental designs, in particular for the experiments to be conducted in the individual decision lab. In addition, we offer a lunch (bring your own drinks).
All researchers interested in experimental methodology are welcome! Of course, there is a strong group in Economics, Finance, and Accounting applying Experimental Economics/Finance methodology. However, there are also people from Political Science who run experimental surveys about political participation or from Marketing who run experiments on innovation resistance.
On February 8, 12:30-14:30, in the laboratory (-1.545) we organise a kick-off meeting about revamp-related issues such as how to implement quality standards, how to handle the cash, how to recruit participants efficiently, where to find documents and information, or how to take responsibility, among others. In the other meetings, every Wednesday at the same time, we invite researchers to present their experimental design and listeners to provide feedback and play the devil’s advocate.
How to organise? We will implement a mailing list and a reoccurring calendar item with all relevant information that we will update. Moreover, we implement a Teams environment that provides all relevant information and documentation. You will get frequent invitations, and we kindly ask you to accept or reject the meetings to organise lunch (bring your own drinks).
For the presenters: Send a request for a slot to sascha.fullbrunn@ru.nl and answer the following questions (that we will also provide in the calendar item)
- Title
- Who is presenting, and who are the authors?
- What is your research question, and why is it relevant for academia and society?
- What are the cornerstones of your experimental design?
- What difficulties do you see in your experimental design that you would like to discuss in particular?
Please register for the mailing list or contact Sascha Füllbrunn via Sascha.fullbrunn@ru.nl.
Experimental IDlab
Given the new responsibility of the hotspot Integrated Decision Making for the IMR lab, we implement a new IDlab series. The IDlabs are meant to 1) discuss matters regarding the usage of the individual decision lab next to 2) discussing the implementation of experimental designs.
The meetings are scheduled until further notice on Wednesdays 12:00-14:00 in the Individual Decision Lab (-1.545); lunch will be provided (bring your own drinks). Send an email to Sascha.fullbrunn@ru.nl for making a request to discuss an experimental design. In particular, when you want to use the laboratory, you should discuss your experimental design here to get the wisdom of the IMR experimentalists. Questions to Sascha Füllbrunn.
