Workshop on Lobbying for Change: Bridging the Science-Policy Gap provided by Kelsey Beltz from ‘the Good Lobby’ in EOS 00.260
Researchers are supposed to be change agents, but how can research have impact on policy making? In this workshop, we will discuss different approaches and techniques to lobbying and advocacy. In collaboration with TransAct, The Good Lobby has designed a three hour, in-person workshop to bring together a selected group of around 20 network members to elaborate on different ways that the academic community can lobby for their scientific findings to be included in policy making. This interactive workshop will combine lecture, hands-on exercises, and group activities to make it as dynamic as possible. In these three hours, we will (1) discuss lobbying for change; (2) techniques of stakeholder mapping and coalition building; and (3) techniques on effective communication with policymakers. Please register for this event via this form by March 1st 2023. Everyone can apply, but TransAct members will prioritized.
