‘No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible’ (Voltaire). This may also be the reason that we’ve seen so many political avalanches in our short but moving history. Even today, with crises in Ukraine and the Arab world, we can only guess to the exact causes of why this is happening now. In order to explain these movements, political scientists have come up with a wide variety of terms. Communism, liberalism, capitalism. One thing all these terms have in common is that they all end at ‘ismus’ in Dutch, which is also the origin of the name of our study association. Luckily, ismus does a lot more than discussing today’s world problems. We organize a wide range of activities, varying from debates to parties. We are really looking forward to seeing you in our room for a nice cup of coffee and some good stories!
