Michiel Kompier appointed Interim Dean of the Nijmegen School of Management

Date of news: 28 February 2023

As of 1 March, Michiel Kompier will be appointed Interim Dean of the Nijmegen School of Management. Kompier is Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology and served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from October 2017 to 1 October 2022. With this appointment, he temporarily succeeds Tom Elfring who recently announced his decision to step down as Dean in March.

Rector Magnificus Han van Krieken: ‘Michiel Kompier has extensive administrative experience and is familiar with the ins and outs of our University. Partly for this reason, the Executive Board and the Faculty Board both see him as an ideal candidate for this position.’

Michiel Kompier: ‘The Nijmegen School of Management is a fantastic faculty with high-quality research, interesting study programmes, and a strong focus on societal impact. I look forward to collaborating with people within and beyond the Faculty.’

The Executive Board will in the meantime take steps to find a new dean for the Faculty. In consultation with the Faculty Board and the Faculty participational bodies, a job profile will be drawn up, following which the Board can start recruiting a candidate. It is expected that a new dean can still be appointed this calendar year.
