Mentor Rules and Regulations

Dear student,

We appreciate your interest in becoming a mentor for the Nijmegen School of Management during the 2024 Orientation!

The following rules and regulations apply to all students interested in becoming mentors:
Students can register in groups of three or four to become a mentor. We strive to organise each group into five students per mentor. This means a group of three mentors will have roughly fifteen students and a group of four mentors will have roughly twenty students.

The first person on the list will serve as both head mentor and contact person before, during and after the Orientation.

Each mentor will receive € 75,- as a reward in total. This will be paid out to every mentor after the Orientation.

For the admission of the mentors we will take your academic results into consideration, so be sure to indicate the study phase you are currently in and how many credits you have obtained so far. The required minimum number of credits after the first semester of 2023-2024 is 18 for first-year students, 72 for second-year students and 120 for third-year students and higher. Your credits will be checked, so be honest! First-year students who have received a negative binding study advice by the end of July will be taken of the mentor list.

When you quit your study before the Orientation, you will not be eligible for mentorship.

We will keep a stand-by list and, in the event of a mentor shortage, we will approach a group on the list.

Mentor groups will be created per study. All prospective students in the mentor group will be enrolled in the same programme. This means that all mentors must also be enrolled in this programme.

You can register for:

  • Business Administration (in case you study International Business Administration or Business Administration)
  • Economics and Business Economics (in case you study International Economics and Business or Economics and Business Economics)

The groups for the BA in Business Administration and the BA in Economics and Business Economics must be guided in English.

A ‘stamp card’ with several activities will be distributed to each group. These activities are mandatory for all groups. Failure to participate in these activities will result in a € 100,- fine per missed activity. This fine will be deducted from the aforementioned € 75,- compensation per mentor. The penalty will also apply if not all students are present. A fine may also be issued for misconduct.

In the months running up to the Orientation, a meeting will be organised for all mentors representing the Nijmegen School of Management. During this meeting we will discuss the key issues and our programme. The meeting will be held on Thursday 30 May at 12:15 pm in the Elinor Ostrom building. This meeting is mandatory for all mentors.

If this is your first time as a mentor, you are required to participate in the mentor instruction session organised by the central organisation team. This will be held on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 August 2024. You will receive more detailed information later this year.

Kind regards,
