Internships

Why an internship?

An internship offers several advantages. You can acquaint yourself with the working environment for economists. Or you could use your internship to do research for your bachelor's thesis or master's thesis. What’s more, during your internship you have the opportunity to specialise in something that has received less attention during your studies.

What to do?

It is possible to do an internship within the Bachelor course programme Economics and Business Economics. You are allowed to substitute two electives (12 EC) with an internship that is relevant for economics. In order to do so, you will need the formal permission of the Board of Examiners for Economics and Business Economics. You acquire this permission by writing a motivated letter as outlined in the Internship Regulations document (pdf, 479 kB)*. The Board of Examiners will then verify if your internship is in line with the requirements for an internship. If so, the board will appoint someone from the staff as your internship supervisor.

Internship Regulations document

An Internship Regulation document (pdf, 479 kB)* has been crafted for students who want to do an internship. The document makes clear what will be expected from the internship, the internee, the organization where the internship takes place and the internship supervisor.

Possibilities for Internships

The Internship Regulation document also contains a number of links to websites that could be useful for finding a suitable internship. Furthermore, announcements we receive for relevant internships will be placed on the Brightspace channels of the Economics and Business Economics bachelor and/or master course programmes.
