Centre Connecting Humans and Nature (CCHN) bestudeert de verbondenheid van mensen met de natuur in verschillende contexten en gedurende de menselijke levensloop. De missie is om bij te dragen aan het verbinden van mens en natuur door onderzoek en door het organiseren en stimuleren van dialogen binnen en tussen wetenschap en samenleving. CCHN richt zich op het verbinden van mens en natuur door jeugd & levensloop en door praktijk & perceptie. CCHN is gevestigd bij het Institute for Science in Society.

FLOW
Als bijdrage aan de EU missie ‘Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030’ is FLOW een internationaal en interdisciplinair project dat de relatie tot en betrokkenheid met wateren en oceanen van jonge generaties onderzoekt.

WildlifeNL
Het project WildlifeNL houdt zich bezig met de zoektocht naar nieuwe vormen van wildbeheer. Doel is om nieuwe technologieën, bestuursinstrumenten en communicatiestrategieën te ontwikkelen, voor een conflictarme co-existentie van mens en wild.

EnviroCitizen
Het EnviroCitizen-project gebruikt vogelactiviteiten om te onderzoeken hoe citizen science milieubewust burgerschap bevordert. Het project ontwikkelt gemeenschapsinterventies in Europa via educatie en evenementen.

Een samenwerkingsproject tussen Indonesië en Nederland onderzoekt hoe Indonesische culturen en religies hun relatie met de natuur beïnvloeden.

The 'Mourning for Deserted Skies' project investigates how digital platforms influence emotional responses to biodiversity loss among citizen scientists.

Visions of Nature in the Metropolitan City of Lima
This project investigates citizens' views of nature in Lima, Peru and compares the results with studies from the Netherlands and Vietnam. A subproject uses poetry as a tool in biology education to enhance students' understanding of nature.

From Childhood Experiences to Engaged Citizenship
This project explores how childhood experiences with nature impact ecological citizenship in adulthood, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Studentenscripties

Over CCHN
Centre Connecting Humans and Nature (CCHN) is onderdeel van het Institute for Science in Society en is onderdeel van de Faculteit der Natuurwetenschappen, Wiskunde en Informatica van de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen.
Riyan van den Born is directeur van het CCHN en Noelle Aarts is wetenschappelijk adviseur.
Financiering
Het CCHN is een initiatief van de Stichting Bijzondere Leerstoel en wordt gefinancierd door IVN Natuureducatie, Natuurmonumenten, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Staatsbosbeheer, WNF en de Radboud Universiteit.
De klankbordgroep van CCHN bestaat uit José Koopman (Natuurmonumenten), Marjolein Kloek (Staatsbosbeheer), Kris van Koppen (Stichting Bijzondere Leerstoel en Natuurbeheer), Noa Dunnewind (Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds), Joline de Weerdt (IVN Natuureducatie) en Monique Grooten (WNF).
